All District

The Southeast All-District team has been selected and Trimble was representatives on the first team were: Andrew McLaughlin, Kiefer Standley, Johnny Stobart, and Tyler Dyla. Honorable mention went to Charles Kish and Brandon Carter. Dyla, for the second straight year was named the Offensive Player of the Year.

All-Ohio will be published later, but the practice of the state of Ohio is that if a player is first team all district, they are at the very least named honorable mention all Ohio.

Dyla with his Player of the Year selection will be a first team All-Ohio becoming the first player in Trimble history to be named District Player of the Year, and First Team All-Ohio in both his Sophomore and Junior seasons.

Congratulations to all of the 'Cats receiving post-season honors, and to the rest of the team on another league championship!

Season in Review

The 2009 Tomcats have drawn their season to a close and as an alumni and former player I'd like to thank them for another winning season, and another league championship. Trimble once again stormed through the Hocking Division on their way to a 13th TVC Championship by outscoring the competition 202-26. The big showdown game with Southern didn't materialize as the 'Cats jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With the reconfiguring of the league next season Trimble needs to look out for the Wahama White Falcons who will probably finish the regular season in WV with an 8-2 record, and qualify for the post season. Also new to the Hocking mix is Belpre (0-10) and South Gallia (3-7)

On Friday night Tyler Dyla set the single season rushing record by running for 1,727 yards and 15 TDs. This broke the late Jeff McClelland's record from 1978 by 17 yards. Dyla rushed for 321 yards against Miller, 10 yards shy of the single game record, and only the second time in school history a back has gone over 300 yards in a single game. Dyla's career yardage mark is at 3,127 yards, a mere 257 yards from the all-time record. If his senior year output is anything like his last two seasons, he will end his Tomcat career holding the season and career rushing record, the rushing touchdown record, and the overall touchdown record at Trimble. Congratulations to Tyler and to the Tomcat offensive line for such a monumental achievement!

Congratulations to the current Tomcats for winning the 15 league championship and 13th TVC championship since consolidation! This also is the fifth time in school history that we have won consecutive league titles, and brings Coach Faires now to nine trophies. Next week the 'Cats will honor the seniors as they close the season against Miller.

League Week 3

Tomcats post their second straight shut-out as they beat Federal Hocking in Stewart 31-0. The road dogs portion of the league schedule is over as the 'Cats now are at home for the final two games of the season. Trimble can clinch their 15th league championship with a win Friday night over Southern. The much improved Tornadoes come to town sporting a winning record, but more importantly the only roadblock in our way to a TVC-Hocking Championship.

Dyla update: With his performance at Fed, Tyler surpassed Rob Cooper for second place on the all-time rushing list. He is now a little over 750 yards away from being the leading rusher in Trimble history

League Week 2

Trimble rolled to a 50-0 win at Waterford Friday night, and is currently the only TVC-Hocking team without a league loss. This Friday, the 'Cats invade Stewart to take on Federal Hocking. Fed beat Eastern last week for their first win of the season. Should be another hard fought game as the Tomcats pursue a 15th league championship.

Dyla update: Tyler has moved past Gene Campbell on the all-time rushing list, and now is under 100 yards away from surpassing Rob Cooper as the #2 career rushing leader. He is now within 1,000 yards of Jeff McClelland.

League Week 1

The Tomcats won their 9th consecutive conference game on Friday over Eastern. This week they travel to Waterford to take on the Wildcats. Most Tomcats know that the last league loss sustained by Trimble was at Waterford in the 2007 season. I'm sure the 'Cats will be prepared on Friday to avenge that loss. Waterford and Southern are the only two other teams that started league play with a win, so a victory Friday will definitely put us on track for back-to-back TVC-Hocking Championships.

Quick Dyla update. With his performance last Friday, Tyler went over 2,000 career rushing yards, and now sits 4th on the all-time rushing list having surpassed Robby Jenkins. Around 150 yards will put him over 1,000 for the season, and move him past Gene Campbell to the 3rd spot all-time

Halfway Point

Trimble enters league competition at 1-4. Some things history has taught us. The last two times the Tomcats have started 1-4, they have finished 6-4 and won the TVC Hocking Championship. The last time the Tomcats were shut out two consecutive games, the Tomcats finished 6-4, and won the TVC Hocking Championship. Time for the turnaround or as a good friend and Coaching buddy used to say, "It's time to flip it over." The second season starts against the Eastern Eagles on Friday night.
