Season in Review

The 2009 Tomcats have drawn their season to a close and as an alumni and former player I'd like to thank them for another winning season, and another league championship. Trimble once again stormed through the Hocking Division on their way to a 13th TVC Championship by outscoring the competition 202-26. The big showdown game with Southern didn't materialize as the 'Cats jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With the reconfiguring of the league next season Trimble needs to look out for the Wahama White Falcons who will probably finish the regular season in WV with an 8-2 record, and qualify for the post season. Also new to the Hocking mix is Belpre (0-10) and South Gallia (3-7)

On Friday night Tyler Dyla set the single season rushing record by running for 1,727 yards and 15 TDs. This broke the late Jeff McClelland's record from 1978 by 17 yards. Dyla rushed for 321 yards against Miller, 10 yards shy of the single game record, and only the second time in school history a back has gone over 300 yards in a single game. Dyla's career yardage mark is at 3,127 yards, a mere 257 yards from the all-time record. If his senior year output is anything like his last two seasons, he will end his Tomcat career holding the season and career rushing record, the rushing touchdown record, and the overall touchdown record at Trimble. Congratulations to Tyler and to the Tomcat offensive line for such a monumental achievement!
